Remote Filmmaking is the New Normal

Brave Are The Fallen
Has Been Accepted Into:

Since this if my first documentary film, I have been honored with this acceptance as a first time filmmaker. Since I made the switch to documentary filmmaking from narrative filmmaking, I have started several exciting projects, but Brave Are The Fallen will always hold a place close to my heart. Who knows, maybe it’ll get an award at this festival too. Wish us luck!

COVID 19 Documentary
About Heroes Around The World

This last week I was able to finally interview one of my key subjects for the film. A pilot before he could even drive. Honored at the White House by President Trump for his selfless courageous efforts. TJ Kim’s story is one to be held as an example for what kindness in our hearts and use of our everyday skills can look like in a time of need as he continues delivering supplies to rural hospitals with the help of his instructor. It has been a year since I started this project and I am excited to say that I am glad I took the opportunity to capture such a historic moment.

Since TJ and his family are on the opposite side of the country from myself, I was able to work with TJ’s father, Thomas Kim, who assisted me as my remote cameraman in the efforts of capturing this interview, of TJ and his instructor, for the film. In doing so, I seem to have stumbled upon a new way of filmmaking in these remote working times that I have already implemented into my second firefighter documentary that takes place primarily in Florida. A pandemic documentary calls for a pandemic filming method.

A 2nd Firefighter Documentary

Filming is almost wrapped up for my second firefighter documentary. Only a few more interviews remain that I am waiting to hear back from based on their busy schedule. A lot of these first responders are busy dealing with administering the vaccine.

Editing with a newborn? No problem.

Ever since my daughter was born earlier this year, balancing life and work has become increasingly difficult. Especially with a screaming 2 year old running around. But as they say, life goes on an you make adjustments. What kind of producer would I be if I didn’t have to deal with stress? There’s no greater joy than taking care of your kids all day, then sitting down to edit while being able to look over your shoulder and watch them nap. This is going to be a fun year.
